What is the role of the department of Student Affairs during the voting and SRC election process?
- 3 staff members are nominated as Chief Electoral Officer, Secretary of the Election Commission and member of the Election Commission
- 3 additional staff members are appointed as election officers.
- All of these staff members ensure the implementation of the Election Commission decision and day to day running of the Election process.
How can students vote?
They can vote in two ways throughout the week:- paper ballots at voting stations on all campuses during the day between 8am-4pm and in residences in the evenings (6-8pm)
- electronic voting on eBallot: http://eballot4.votenet.com/uct from Monday 14/09 at 8am to Friday 18 September at 11.59pm.
Does the voting system protect the anonymity of a student's vote, while at the same time validating that it was cast accurately, in a manner that maintains records that a losing candidate will accept as valid and verified?
The voting system (both paper and electronic) balances the confidentiality of the students' vote with transparency of processes through verification, security and an audit trail. Candidates are invited to send observers to vote counting where they will observe how the paper ballots are counted and how the system works.
When does voting end?
18 September 2015 - 8pm on paper ballot in the residences and 11.59pm online.
