Since making the difficult decision on Wednesday, 5 October, to close the university, the Executive has been meeting with key stakeholders, including students, staff and other important constituencies. These meetings will continue today and throughout the weekend.
We are embarking on these talks in the hopes of: negotiating a way forward that would facilitate the successful completion of the academic year; finding common ground on which to resolve mediation around a range of UCT-related issues; and addressing some of the critical issues facing the higher education sector nationally.
